Commercial Service Technician
Harwood Mechanical is looking for an experienced service technician to provide maintenance and repairs on commercial and residential heating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
- Performs technical and general maintenance, service, troubleshooting, repair, and installation on HAV equipment
- Monitor, inspect and perform corrective and preventative maintenance on HVAC systems and components
- Service include but are not limited to, thermostats, air filters, motors, belts and bearings
- Monitor building temperatures
- Adjust thermostat setting for heat and air conditioning
- Change system filters
- Service and test refrigerants
- Order and maintain parts needed to repair and maintain HVAC equipment
- Troubleshoot with specialized tools
- Perform other duties as assigned
Service Technician / Installer
Harwood Mechanical is looking for a service technician and installer to provide maintenance and repairs on commercial and residential heating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
- Install, repair, replace and maintain all types of HVAC systems
- Install indoor and outdoor equipment, media filters and humidifiers
- Remove and reinstall duct work
- Replace compressors and coils
- Construction background preferred
- Monitor, inspect and perform corrective and preventative maintenance on HVAC systems and components
- Service include but are not limited to, thermostats, air filters, motors, belts and bearings
- Monitor building temperatures
- Adjust thermostats
- Perform other duties as assigned
Air Conditioning Service Technician
Location of Employment: 710 W 1700 S, Salt Lake City, Utah 84104
Job Duties
- Analyze and troubleshoot building air conditioning systems to determine proper operation for both human comfort as well as process operations systems, using knowledge of interactions of air flow, outside and inside air temperature, freon temperature and pressure relationships, and temperature difference between return and supply air.t
- Work on air conditioning equipment in the location it is currently installed using ladders or man lifts to get to roofs, equipment rooms, platforms or suspended equipment or equipment located in crawl spaces.
- Troubleshoot poorly functioning air conditioning systems and make determination of cause, using knowledge of electrical circuits, both high voltage and low control voltage.
- Discover faulty electrical components in air conditioning systems by use of a volt/amp/ohm meter.
- Determine proper course of action to adjust or replace faulty components and perform the steps necessary to make the repair complete.
- Analyze refrigerant flow using a refrigerant gauge manifold and surface temperature thermometer.
- Determine if system is operating properly at current ambient temperatures and make any necessary adjustments to freon levels, replace faulty refrigeration components, clean coils using coil cleaner solutions and other such steps as required to achieve proper flow.
- Analyze air delivery systems to determine proper air flow using a balometer, hot wire anemometer, and amp meter.
- Make adjustments to air flow dampers and motor pulleys to achieve proper and balanced air flow.
- Read and understand control wiring diagrams and utilize them in conjunction with the use of electrical meters to determine proper electrical flow and operation.
- Make final connections of freon lines in newly installed projects.
- Perform proper evacuation and charging procedures utilizing a vacuum pump, nitrogen gauge, micron gauge and refrigerant gauge manifold.
- Perform factory recommended start-up procedures on new air conditioning equipment.
- Maintain complete service records utilizing personal smart phone to access company service application recording diagnosis, tools used to make diagnosis, actions taken or recommendations made.
- Perform routine maintenance on air conditioning systems such as lubrication of bearings, cleaning condenser and evaporative coils, replacing air filters, cleaning condensate drains, replacing/adjusting belts as well as other factory recommended procedures.
- Coordinate with and communicate pricing to service dispatch and company management and customer.
- Communicate in English with company service dispatch and company management in the coordination of work flow.
Certifications Required
- NATE (North American Technician Excellence) HVAC Support Certification or equivalent.
- Certification of the passing of a universal exam on how to responsibly handle refrigerants as required by EPA’s National Recycling and Emission Reduction Program.
Experience Required
- 5 years experience as an Air Conditioning Service Technician working in the air conditioning repair field.
Skill Set Required
- Demonstrable competence in the performance of analyzing and troubleshooting air conditioning systems with an understanding of the interactions of air flow, outside and inside air temperature, freon temperature and pressure relationships and temperature difference between return and supply air..t
- Demonstrable understanding of and prior experience in electrical circuits, both high voltage and low control voltage.
- Demonstrable ability in using the following instruments: balometer, hot wire anemometer, amp meter, refrigerant gauge manifold, surface temperature thermometer, and volt/amp/ohm meter. Must be able to read and understand control wiring diagrams and know how to utilize them in conjunction with the use of electrical meters to determine proper electrical flow and operation.
- Demonstrable understanding of sequence of operation for air conditioning systems and ability to recognize and make diagnosis of necessary repairs if equipment does not operate in proper sequence.
- Demonstrable ability to communicate in English with company service dispatch and company management in the coordination of work flow.
- Demonstrable ability in maintaining complete service records utilizing personal smart phone to access company service application recording diagnosis, tools used to make diagnosis, actions taken or recommendations made.
- Demonstrable ability to and prior experience in coordinating with and communicating pricing to service dispatch and company management and customer.
Work Schedule: M-F, 8:00 am-5:00 pm
Travel: Travel to jobsites using a company provided van or truck in Wasatch Front, from North Ogden to South Provo. This includes the counties of Weber, Davis, Salt Lake, Utah and Tooele 100 % of time.
Work Hours: 8:00 am-5:00 pm, Monday-Friday
